Guidan roumdji department is a department in the region of Maradi in Niger .

geography

The department is located in the south of the country and borders Nigeria . It consists of the township of Guidan Roumdji and the rural parishes of Chadakori , Guidan Sori , Saé Saboua and Tibiri . The eponymous capital of the department is Guidan Roumdji.

history

The area of ​​the department originally belonged to the arrondissement of Maradi, which was dissolved on February 17, 1972 and its area was divided into the new arrondissements of Guidan Roumdji and Madarounfa . In 1998 the previous Arrondissements of Nigers were converted into departments, each headed by a prefect appointed by the Council of Ministers. The department has been divided into municipalities since 2002. Before that, it consisted of the urban center Guidan Roumdji and the cantons of Guidan Roumdji, Chadakori, Sayé Saboua, Guidan-Sori and Tibiri.
