Gaius Papirius Carbo (son)
Gaius Papirius Carbo Arvina († 82 BC ) was a Roman politician at the beginning of the 1st century BC. He was the son of the consul of the same name and an unshakable representative of the aristocracy .
Carbo is best known for the lex Plautia Papiria , which he and Marcus Plautius Silvanus as tribunes of the people in 89 BC. Brought in. This law offered Roman citizenship to any Italian ally residing in Italy at the time of its entry into force, provided that they reported personally to the praetor in Rome within sixty days . The aim of the law was to bind the allies to Rome in the event of war.
