Gaius Papius Mutilus
Gaius Papius Mutilus († around 80 BC ) was the leader of the Samnites in the alliance war against Rome from 90 to 88 BC. Chr.
In 90 BC He conquered Nola and other cities in Campania . Mutilus attacked the Roman consul Lucius Julius Caesar , but was defeated by him. In 89 BC He was decisively defeated by Sulla in Samnium and fled to Aesernia . He made contact with the popular Gaius Marius the Younger . After Sulla's return to Rome and the subsequent defeat of the popular armies, he was able to survive until 80 BC. Claim in Nola. He committed suicide.
