The white-yellow bedstraw ( Galium × pomeranicum ) is a member of the red family (Rubiaceae). It blooms from June to September. It is a hybrid between the white bedstraw ( Galium album ) and the real bedstraw ( Galium verum ).

description

The white-yellow bedstraw is a perennial herbaceous plant , stands in all characteristics between the parent species and reaches a stature height of about 50 to 100 cm. The stem is more or less square shaped at the bottom. The inflorescence is loosely short-haired to bald. The crown is yellow to light yellow or almost white in color. The corolla lobes are slightly awning. The leaves are about 1.5 to 3 mm wide. Galium × pomeranicum is relatively easy to spot because of its differently colored petals , which in a stand usually take on all color nuances from yellow to white.

distribution

General distribution

The hybrid is generally dispersed between parents. Depending on the proportion of parents, the proportion of yellow or white in the flowers can vary. The hybrids were also spotted in the immediate vicinity without their parents in the following federal states: North Rhine-Westphalia and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, especially along the coast between Zingst and North Rügen. The hybrid probably originated in East Western Pomerania. The exact distribution in Europe is still insufficiently known.

Location requirements

The white-yellow bedstraw grows in colline to montane meadows and on road embankments and edges. Otherwise it has the same soil requirements as the parent species.
