The Galleria Sabauda (Italian / Latin for: Savoy Picture Gallery ) is a picture gallery in Turin (Northern Italy). The museum contains mainly Italian, Dutch and French works from the 15th to 17th centuries. Century as well as a graphic collection. Since 2012 it has been presented in the “New Wing” ( Manica Nuova ) of the Royal Palace as a department of the Musei Reali Torino .

history

The museum has brought together the collections of various branches of the House of Savoy : including the picture gallery of Prince Eugene , works from the Turin royal palace and the collection from Palazzo Durazzo in Genoa, which was purchased in 1824. The museum in Palazzo Madama was opened to the public for the first time in 1832, and since 1865 it has been shown in the Palazzo dell'Accademia delle Scienze, where it was on view until 2012, before moving to a grand piano in December 2014 at Via XX Settembre, 86 of the Palazzo Reale . Edith Gabrielli developed the exhibition concept, the current director is Annamaria Bava.

collection

The collection contains high-ranking works by Dutch painters such as the wings of the Annunciation Triptych by Rogier van der Weyden , the Passion tablets by Hans Memling , works by Rembrandt , Gerrit Dou , Jan van Huchtenburgh and Anthony van Dyck ; by Italian painters the Gualino Madonna by Duccio di Buoninsegna , Tobias with three angels by Filippino Lippi , works by Sandro Botticelli , Bernardo Daddi , Fra Angelico , Piero del Pollaiuolo , Agnolo Bronzino , Bernardo Bellotto , Orazio Gentileschi , Andrea Mantegna , Giovanni Battista Tiepolo , Gaudenzio and Defendente Ferrari , Giovanni Bellini , Guercino , Sebastiano Ricci , Giovanni Martino Spanzotti , Tizian , Paolo Veronese and Tintoretto .
