The Gambone Peak is a 1620  m high mountain that belongs to the Bowers Mountains in northern Victoria Land. It rises 11 km southwest of Coronet Peak at the confluence of the Leap Year Glacier and the Black Glacier .

The United States Geological Survey mapped it on the basis of its own surveys and with the help of aerial photographs of the United States Navy between 1960 and 1964. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1970 after Lieutenant Joseph C.
