Gandamak is a place in the Afghan province of Nangarhar .
The city is located in the northeast of the country on the road from Peshawar to Kabul at an altitude of 1302 meters above sea level. It has about 10,000 inhabitants.
During the First Anglo-Afghan War , the Battle of Gandamak took place on January 13, 1842 between British troops and Afghans .
On May 26, 1879, the Gandamak Treaty was signed here during the Second Anglo-Afghan War between Great Britain and Afghanistan .
