Ganyesa is a place in the South African province of Northwest (North West). It is the administrative seat of the municipality of Kagisano-Molopo in the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati district .

Ganyesa has 19,290 inhabitants (2011 census). 93% of the population named Setswana as their first language in the census . The surroundings are flat and sloping towards the northwest. Ganyesa is 70 kilometers northwest of Vryburg .

history

Ganyesa was established as the seat of a Barolong tribe . In 1886 the area around Ganyesa was declared after the formation of British Bechuanaland as a native reserve (about: " native reserve "). Until 1994 it belonged to the homeland Bophuthatswana .

Economy and Transport

The place is agriculturally oriented.

The R378 trunk road leads from Vryburg in the southeast via Ganyesa to the Botswana border in the northwest.
