Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality (formerly Bophirima ) is a district within the province of North West in South Africa . It has 463,815 inhabitants (as of October 2011) on a total area of ​​43,700 km². The district administration is based in Vryburg . Until 2008 the district name was Bophirima.

The district is named after Ruth Segomotsi Mompati , member of the African National Congress (ANC) since 1952, member of the South African parliament from 1994 to 1996 and former ambassador of South Africa to Switzerland.

The district is subdivided into the municipalities ( Local Municipalitíes ):
