Mamusa ( English Mamusa Local Municipality ) is a local municipality in the district Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality of the province of North West in South Africa . The administrative headquarters are in Schweizer-Reneke .

The community is named after the Setswana word for “breastfeeding children”.

In 2011 the community had 60,355 inhabitants. Of these, 91.4% were black, 5.5% white and 2.2% colored .

84.7% of the first language was Setswana, 7.2% Afrikaans, 2.2% Sesotho , 1.7% English, 0.9% isiXhosa and isiZulu and 0.8% isiNdebele .
