Gaofen 4 ( Chinese  高分 四號  /  高分 四号 , Pinyin Gāofēn Sì Hào ) is an earth observation satellite from the People's Republic of China that is part of the CHEOS fleet.

It was on December 28, 2015 16:05 UTC (对地观测工程中心) on behalf of the Center for Earth Observation projects of the National Space Agency with a CZ-3B / G2 - carrier rocket from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in a geostationary brought orbit.

The three-axis stabilized satellite is equipped with cameras developed by the Research Institute for Space- Related Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Beijing (Institute 508), a division of the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST), and can record images in the infrared and visible range. The resolution is better than 50 m in the visible range and better than 400 m in the infrared. The recording size is about 400 × 400 km. It was built on the basis of the SAST9000 satellite bus from the Shanghai Academy of Space Technology (SAST) - like CAST, a subsidiary of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation - and has a planned service life of eight years.

The satellite began regular operations on June 13, 2016, has a view of China and neighboring areas from its geostationary orbit and is primarily used to monitor forest fires and floods.
