Gappa - Frankenstein's flying monsters ( Japanese 大 巨 獣 ガ ッ パ , Daikyojū Gappa , German: "Gappa: The Colossal Beast"; German alternative title: Gappa - Invasion of the Flying Beasts ) is a Japanese Kaijū film from 1967.
action
When a tropical amusement park is to be opened, an expedition of scientists and journalists is sent on a boat trip to replenish the necessary stocks. When the expedition arrives at Obelisk Island, however, they make quite unexpected discoveries: the residents hope that their arrival will placate “Gappa”, and shortly afterwards they first discover the stone statue of a mythical creature and then an oversized egg from which a creature hatches. which looks like a cross between a reptile and an owl. The animal is of course taken along as a potential attraction, but of course there are larger counterparts for this child, and the parents soon take up the chase, which of course ends in the destruction of a large Japanese city.
background
The film contains satire on the Kaijū films. That's why the film received bad reviews from fans of the genre. Some satire has been lost in translation.
