Éva Garam

Éva Garam (born March 29, 1939 in Boba ) is a Hungarian professor and medieval archaeologist from Budapest .

Career

Garam graduated from the Áron-Gábor-Gymnasium in Celldömölk in 1957 and then studied archeology between 1957 and 1962 at the Eötvös-Loránd University in Budapest . She completed this degree in 1962 with her diploma thesis on women's clothing during the Avar period . She became a research assistant at the Hungarian National Museum in the Department of the Migration Period and from 1973 its director. In 1967 she submitted her doctoral thesis.

Garam edited the comprehensive than 1,200 individual graves large early medieval cemetery of Tiszafüred monographic and medieval cemeteries of Kisköre and Zamardi . She also wrote numerous essays on the archeology of the early Middle Ages in Hungary . She has been a member of the Hungarian Archaeological and Art History Society (Magyar Régészeti és Művészettörténeti Társulat) and the Archaeological Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1962 .
