Garam shah, la garam shah ( Pashtun Garam shah lā garam shah “Get hot, keep getting hotter”) was the national anthem of the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan from 1978 to 1992 .
history
After the Saur Revolution , with which a communist-oriented government took power in Afghanistan, a new national anthem was adopted by the Taraki government in 1978 . The text was about socialism , which has now also been introduced to Afghanistan.
How long the national anthem was in use is unclear: depending on the source, it was in use until 1987 (formal abolition of the one-party system), 1989 (withdrawal of Soviet troops) or 1992 (overthrow of the Najibullah government ). After that, either the previous anthem So Che Da Mezaka Asman Wi was used or there was no national anthem at all.
After the mujahideen captured Kabul in 1992, Qal'a-ye Islam, qalb-e Asiya , an old battle song, became the new national anthem.

German translation
Get hot, get hotter
you, the holy sun.
Oh sun of freedom,
oh sun of happy future.
We came through the storm to
our destination on the way.
We have crossed the paths of darkness
like the path of light.
The red road of victory,
the pure road of brotherhood.
Get hot, get hotter
you, the holy sun.
Oh sun of freedom,
oh sun of happy future.
Our revolutionary fatherland
is now in the hands of the working people.
The inheritance of the lions
now belongs to the farmers.
The age of tyranny is over,
the era of the workers has come.
Get hot, get hotter
you, the holy sun.
Oh sun of freedom,
oh sun of happy future.
We want peace and brotherhood
among the peoples of the world.
We demand more freedom
for everyone who struggles .
We want bread for them,
we want houses and clothes.
