Garden Gang is a German band from Munich . Influenced by the rock 'n' roll of the 1950s, the beat music of the 1960s, the punk of the 1970s and the New Wave of the late 1980s, the band plays punk rock with only English lyrics.

The band's name refers to a song by the English punk band The Boys .

history

The Garden Gang was founded in Munich in 1992 and initially played folk punk with acoustic guitars, bongos and congas. The first album Green Harbor was recorded in this style in 1993 . On the follow-up album Megalomania from 1995, drums and electric guitar can already be heard on some tracks. On the third album from 1997 Nation of the Diver Ducks , the usual rock instrumentation (electric bass, electric guitar and drums) is finally used.

In the meantime the line-up changed frequently. When the album Follow The Trend was released in 2003 , PamP was the only one of the founding members. The often satirical lyrics deal with the "normal madness" of everyday life and were written by the singer and front man PamP.

It was PamP who invited TV Smith to Germany on his first solo tour in 1992. Since then, the band has been regularly on the road with the former Adverts singer . In 2006 the album Shoppers United was released .

The Garden Gang focused on live performances from the very beginning, giving more than 500 club concerts and participating in many festivals in Germany, England, Spain, the Czech Republic, Austria and Switzerland, together with The Vibrators , The Lurkers , The Damned and Attila the Stock broker . In 2006 the band toured England for the first time. There she played in various clubs, as well as at the annual Wasted Punk Festival, which you can hear on the compilation Blackpool Bounce CD for the UK Wasted Festival 2006 .

The single The Master Plan , with singer PamP, background singer Ann Dee, Chick on electric guitar, René on bass, George on piano and Micha on drums, was released at the end of 2009. In addition to three audio tracks, the single contains an excerpt from the performance of the Garden Walk at the Theatron Festival from August 2008 as a music video.

A concept album entitled Backstair Revolution (Revolt of the Servants), which seamlessly ties in with the previous album and the style of the band, was released in spring 2011. In March 2016, Garden Gang released the album Middle Class Symphony with twelve new tracks.
