Garra Dembélé (born February 21, 1986 in Gennevilliers , France ) is a former French- Malian football player who was mainly used as a striker .

life and career

Dembélé was trained as a youth at the French football youth center in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines and signed his first contract with AJ Auxerre in 2001 . While in Rome in November 2006 to change clubs , he was accused of raping an American student in a nightclub, but was later acquitted for lack of evidence. He then joined FC Istres for six months and then moved to AGF Århus in Denmark . After a short time, the AGF terminated the contract with Dembélé for sporting reasons.

After further stints in Auxerre, Greece and Plovdiv , Dembélé played from July 2010 with Levski Sofia in the Bulgarian A Grupa . For Levski he scored 34 goals in 36 competitive games in 2010/11, but in the league it was only enough for runner-up.

During the summer break of 2011, SC Freiburg signed Dembélé. He made his debut for Freiburg on August 6, 2011 (1st match day) in a 2-2 draw in the away game against FC Augsburg , when he came on for Daniel Caligiuri in the 88th minute . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on November 26, 2011 (14th matchday) in a 1-1 draw in the away game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim . In total, Dembélé made 19 games for Freiburg, only one goal remained.

On January 31, 2013 Dembélé moved to the end of the year on loan to China for Wuhan Zall .

After his return from China he was assigned to the regional league team and no future in the first team of SC Freiburg was promised. This was followed by sick notes, as Dembélé felt nervously unable to participate in the training. In April 2014, the contract between SC Freiburg and Garra Dembélé, the most expensive player in the club's history until then (estimated transfer fee: 2.3 million euros), was terminated under pressure from the club. In August 2014 he signed with the second division club Dubai SC in the United Arab Emirates . In the winter of 2015, when his contract expired, he left Dubai and completed a trial training with the Norwegian champions Strømsgodset IF , among others . He eventually joined the Bulgarian third division club FC Schumen in 1929 . In the summer of 2016 he moved to Switzerland for FC Solothurn , who played the first division . He missed promotion in his team in the play-offs. He ended his career in the summer of 2017.
