Gary Boyle

Gary Winston Boyle (born November 24, 1941 in Bihar , India) is a British jazz rock and fusion guitarist. According to Ian Carr , he is considered an exceptional jazz rock guitarist.

Live and act

Boyle, who grew up in London since 1949, learned to play the guitar when he was fifteen. He played first with Dusty Springfield and accompanied with Brian Augers Trinity Julie Driscoll . From 1967 to 1969 he studied at Leeds College of Music and then returned to Auger. In the 1970s he worked with Keith Tippett , Mike Westbrook and Mike Gibbs , but also recorded with Stomu Yamashta and Rod Stewart . From 1973 to 1977 he led the fusion band Isotope , in which he released three albums with Brian Miller , Jeff Clyne and Nigel Morris , later with Laurence Scott, Hugh Hopper and Nigel Morris, and toured numerous times in Great Britain, Europe and the USA.

Boyle released several solo instrumental albums. He worked with John Etheridge as a duo and in larger formations . He also toured in Great Britain in a duo with Eberhard Weber . He played with his trio at important British jazz festivals in the 1990s. Since the mid-1980s he has been teaching guitar at the Paul McCartney Institute in Liverpool .
