The Gasherbrum VI (also known as Chochordin Peak ) is a 6979  m high mountain in the Gasherbrum in Karakorum .

location

Gasherbrum VI is located on a mountain ridge south of the main ridge. This leads west to Gasherbrum V and then north to Gasherbrum III . Along the northern flank of Gasherbrum VI, the southern Gasherbrum Glacier flows to the Abbruzzi Glacier , which runs west along the southern flank of Gasherbrum VI and flows into the Upper Baltoro Glacier , which in turn flows south of Gasherbrum VI to the west.

Ascent history

An expedition led by Maria Luisa Ercalani claimed to have climbed the mountain in 1986; however, this is questioned. The mountain is considered not yet climbed.

A solo first ascent attempt in 1993 by the mountain guide Walter Hölzler from Germany through the south face had to be canceled about 200 meters below the summit due to the acute risk of ice fall and avalanches from the area of the summit flood.
