Gaston Pierre Achille Ravel (* 28. October 1878 in Paris ; † 24. February 1958 in Cannes , France ) was a French actor , silent film - director and screenwriter.

Live and act

Ravel began as an actor at the turn of the century and joined silent film on the eve of the First World War . In the next two decades he made around five dozen films, which, however, were only intended for entertainment and are largely insignificant in terms of art and film history. Shortly after the war he also shot in Italy, in 1926 Ravel accepted an offer for three films to Germany and shot there for the small Berlin company Alga-Film with artists such as Eduard von Winterstein , Maly Delschaft and Erna Morena . In his final years at work, Gaston Ravel directed several sound films, often in collaboration with co-director Tony Lekain. In one of his last works (Fanatisme) he was also allowed to stage the Hollywood diva Pola Negri , who is visiting Paris .
