Gavit Murli Kumar (born January 8, 1997 in Gujarat ) is an Indian athlete who competes in long-distance running .

Athletic career

Gavit Murli Kumar gained his first international experience at the Junior Asian Championships 2016 in Ho Chi Minh City , where he won the bronze medal in the 5000 meter run in 14: 49.41 min . He then took part in the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz over 10,000 meters and came in 19th after 30: 20.59 minutes. The following year he was sixth at the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar in 15: 02.43 min over 5000 meters and in 2019 he won the bronze medal in the 10,000 meter run behind the two Bahraini Dawit at the Asian Championships in Doha in 28: 38.34 min Fikadu and Hassan Chani . He finished fifth over 5000 meters in 13: 48.99 minutes.

In 2018 Murli Kumar became Indian champion in the 5000 and 10,000 meter races.
