Gaylactic Network
Gaylactic Network is an international organization of the LGBT movement that is active in the fields of science fiction , fantasy , horror films and literature , comics and games and awards the Gaylactic Network Spectrum Award at its annual Gaylaxicon meeting .
Content and projects
The organization is primarily active in North America and has various local chapters in the United States and Canada . Every year the Gaylactic Network organizes an LGBT science fiction meeting Gaylaxicon , which takes place in different locations. The organization annually awards the Gaylactic Network Spectrum Award for LGBT-related productions in the genres of science fiction, fantasy and horror. The organization is a voluntary organization.
Annual meeting Gaylaxicon
The organization's annual meeting has been held annually since 1988. The topic of the meeting is science fiction, fantasy, horror for LGBT people and their friends. The first meeting was in Massachusetts in 1998. The number of visitors varies annually from 90 visitors at the first meeting to 400 visitors in later years. Every year one or more guests from the horror sector are invited, and in most years a science fiction author and an artist. In addition, the James Tiptree, Jr. Award has been presented at the Gaylaxicon in the past .
Gaylactic Spectrum Award
The prize is awarded annually in several categories for authors who write in the field of science fiction, fantasy and horror and who positively present LGBT content in their works and was awarded for the first time in 1999.
