The cost of 75 million euros shared by the community association Communauté d'agglomération de Valenciennes Métropole (55 million euros) and the region Nord-Pas-de-Calais (20 million euros). According to a decision by the municipal owners, the Nungesser II will initially be named after the region in which it is located and will be called Stade du Hainaut. A later renaming by a sponsor is not excluded. Construction began in May 2008; The opening took place on July 26th, 2011, when the local FC Valenciennes Borussia Dortmund received in front of 22,778 spectators and lost 1-0.
The new stadium celebrated its international premiere on May 27, 2012. The French national football team welcomed Iceland to a friendly for the European Championship 2012 . After a 2-0 deficit at the break, the hosts won in the end with 3-2 goals.
In women's football , the Stade du Hainaut was one of nine stadiums at the 2019 World Cup ; At the premiere of the Tournoi de France in spring 2020, three of the six encounters took place in it.
