Gassosa

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Gassosa (also Gasosa , Gazosa or gazzosa ; ital. For "gas-containing") is a clear, soft, sweetened, carbonated lemon lemonade from Italy and from the canton of Ticino in Switzerland .

taste

The Gassosa has only a slight lemon taste and is roughly a middle ground between normal mineral water and a lemonade like Sprite . The Gassosa is drunk unmixed, but is also used to mix with beer (similar to the Alster or Radler) or wine .

Manufacturing

Although the Gassosa is mostly made industrially nowadays, it can still be made by yourself using a number of different recipes, as was customary in the past. The traditional production is based on a fermentation process of the bottled liquid. This is where the Gassosa gets its typical carbonic acid bubbles. It is generally a liquid made up of water , sugar and citric acid , which, unlike other carbonated lemonades, usually doesn't taste as sweet and has less carbonic acid.

variants

In addition to the usual lemon-flavored Gassosa, there are also the variants mandarino ( mandarine , orange), caffè ( coffee , dark color), mirtillo ( blueberry , purple) and lampone ( raspberry , pink).
