The brew was a great measure of volume for beer . It was generally the amount of beer (a brew of beer) that was or was allowed to be brewed with one approach ( brewing justice ). The measure was regionally different in its subdivision into smaller measures and also in its size.

Berlin

In Prussia (after 1816): 1 building = 41.22 hectoliters

Bremen

Only called Bräu here.

Dresden

  • 1 building = 12 runners = 24 barrels = 105 cans
  • 1 barrel = 2 quarters = 4 tons = 7 shock cans = 420 Dresden cans = 280 visor cans

The rule in Saxony until 1871 was: 1 building = 12 runners = 94.81 hectoliters

Hanover

  • 1 brew (brew) = 43 barrels = 87.07 hectoliters
  • 1 barrel = 52 rooms

Leipzig

  • 1 brew = 16 barrels
  • 1 barrel = 2 quarters = 4 tons = 300 cans = 600 Nösel (Leipziger Schenkkanne)

In Leipzig until 1858: 1 building = 8 runners = 70.78 hectoliters

Livonia

  • 1 brew = 24 loof = 1652.76 liters (for barley)
