Alsberg AG

Under the homonymous company Gebr. AG Alsberg two existed in the 1920s, retail trade - companies in Bochum and Gelsenkirchen . They belonged to the Alsberg group with many other, mostly smaller, department stores and shops . The " Aryanization " under the National Socialists forced the Jewish owners to sell, and the name Alsberg disappeared from the public eye. The two department stores were taken over by new, "Aryan" operators.

Gebr. Alsberg AG (Bochum)

The company was founded on March 31, 1921 with effect from January 1, 1921. The company operated the department store on Hochstrasse (today Kortumstrasse) in Bochum, which was completed in 1921. The seat of the company was Cologne until July 27, 1929 , then Bochum . The company was called until June 27, 1933. The department store was taken over in 1935 by Kaufhaus Kortum AG . After several renovations inside, it is now used as an office and commercial building under the name of Kortumhaus .

In the Board of Bochum Aktiengesellschaft by was Siegfried Alsberg and his son Alfred Alsberg the core of the extended family or the Alsberg Alsberg Group represented.

Alsberg Gelsenkirchen AG

The stock corporation was founded on December 19, 1923 and operated the department store on Gelsenkirchener Bahnhofstrasse , built by Gebr. Fried & Alsberg oHG and opened in 1912. The house was extensively expanded in 1928. After 1933 it was initially operated by Rings AG under the name Westfalen-Kaufhaus (WeKa) . After similar renovations to the Bochum house, it is now known as WEKA-Karree .

1927–1928 a department store was built as a branch in Gelsenkirchen-Buer , at the intersection of Hochstrasse / Horster Strasse, which after the bankruptcy of Rings AG in 1938 was foreclosed to the textile retailer Josef Weiser .

Siegfried and Alfred Alsberg sat on the supervisory board of Gelsenkirchener Aktiengesellschaft .
