The battle near Klausen took place on October 20, 1735 between troops of the King of France and Austrian imperial troops. It was a rather insignificant battle and one of the last fighting in the War of the Polish Succession .

After the outcome of the War of the Polish Succession, which was rather unsatisfactory for France, the French army in Germany under the Marshal of France , François de Franquetot, duc de Coigny , intended to cross the Electorate of Trier and then the Austrian Netherlands on its way back . At Klausen in the Eifel they were opposed by an Austrian army led by Lieutenant Field Marshal Friedrich Heinrich von Seckendorff .

After a rather half-hearted battle, the French evaded to Trier , where they initially holed up. The imperial troops did not follow them, but claimed victory for themselves.
