The spotted willow leaf beetle ( Chrysomela vigintipunctata ) is a beetle from the family of leaf beetles (Chrysomelidae).
description
The beetles are 6.5 to 8.5 millimeters long. They have whitish to yellow or reddish elytra , each with 10 black, partly elongated spots and a black suturing of the wing . The head, antennae and legs are also black. The pronotum is black and yellow on the sides.
Occurrence
They occur in Central Europe and southern Northern Europe near the water. They can be found on willows , but also on poplar , birch and alder from April to August , but are not common. The beetles and their larvae feed on the leaves of their host plants. The larvae skeletonize the leaves, especially around the edges, and like to be sociable.
