Against standpoint. Politische Vierteljahreszeitschrift is a Marxist theory magazine from the publishing house of the same name based in Munich , which has been published regularly since 1992. In the successor of various publications of the Marxist Group (MG), especially the Marxist controversy and journal (MSZ), it continues their line in terms of content. The magazine wasobservedby the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution until 2018andclassifiedunder left-wing extremism .
Overview
The GegenStandpunkt is published quarterly with a length of 100–200 pages. According to the Office for the Protection of the Constitution , it has a circulation of 7,000 copies. The magazine is divided into a section with shorter, sometimes polemical comments on events of the past quarter (chronicle - no comment!) And the main part with detailed analyzes of the progress of business and violence according to the GegenStandpunkt-own criticism of capitalism . The updated versions of the magazine are often devoted to fundamental questions of the bourgeois state and the capitalist economy (e.g. the state budget, the currency and its value, Islam, the people ). The volumes up to 2014 are also freely available as e-books on the website . GegenStandpunkt offers selected articles from the current editions for free viewing on its website; from the editions that were more than a year ago, all articles are made available free of charge.

The publisher itself provides recordings of selected events for download, but a larger archive of various lecture and discussion events is made available independently of the publisher on the Argudiss website.

Well-known representatives of the GegenStandpunkt editorial team include Karl Held , the editor in charge since the company was founded in 1992 until his death in 2010, as well as his successor in this role Peter Decker , the industrial sociologist Theo Wentzke and the university professors Margaret Wirth and Freerk Huisken who work in Bremen .
Translations
The publisher publishes all publications primarily in German, but also translates country-specific articles and publications into other languages and publishes them free of charge. GegenStandpunkt maintains its own websites with appropriately translated publications for English, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian and Dutch.
Classification by the protection of the constitution
The group called by the Bremen Office for the Protection of the Constitution in 2007 as a “conspiratorial, sect-like organization” had around 3000 members nationwide in 2018 (around 4000 in 2014, around 5000 in 2012, around 7000 in 2011), including many former members of the Marxist group. According to the Federal Constitutional Protection Report 2012, the “long-term goal of the group” is “the revolutionary overcoming of the existing constitutional order, which is generally denigrated as ' capitalism ', however, according to our own assessment, this cannot be achieved at present”.
“The sect-like group 'GegenStandpunkt' (GSP) represents a modified concept of Marxism. It rejects parliamentary democracy as the 'perfect form of bourgeois rule'. Its goal is the establishment of a socialist or communist society by overcoming the current state and social order in a revolutionary way . Due to its elitist understanding of Marxism , the group is largely isolated in the left-wing extremist scene. "
In the meantime, the magazine is no longer mentioned in the reports on the protection of the constitution in the federal states, not even in the “home state” of Bavaria. It is also no longer mentioned in the 2019 Federal Constitutional Protection Report.
Radio broadcasts
