The Geibelsche Schmiede is a listed forge built in the middle of the 17th century with an attached riding court in Darmstadt-Eberstadt in Hesse . For architectural, industrial and urban history reasons, the building is a cultural monument .

History and description

The Geibel forge was probably built between 1662 and 1664 by master blacksmith Johann Daniel Geibel. The Franconian Hofreite comprises the two-storey half - timbered house and the single-storey forge. Both buildings with knee sticks have a half-hip roof and are connected by a gate . A small vaulted cellar has been preserved in the rear part of the property .

The Geibel forge was renovated and completed with a transverse barn and a newly created cottage garden . The property now houses a local museum .
