The Geibeltbad Pirna is an outdoor pool with an attached indoor pool in Pirna . It is located in the southern suburb of the Gottleubatal between Viehleite and Kohlberg and is operated by the Pirna municipal utilities .

history

The outdoor pool was built with funds from the Geibelt Foundation and completed on June 20, 1937. In 1950, the 62nd German Swimming Championships took place in the Geibeltbad. Between 2001 and 2002 the outdoor pool was extensively renovated and expanded. At the same time, a new indoor swimming pool with a sport and recreational character was built in the immediate vicinity between 2000 and 2001 in order to expand the leisure offer with a year-round offer and to be able to operate the swimming pool more economically. The costs amounted to approx. 38 million DM , of which approx. 6 million DM went to the renovation of the outdoor swimming pool area. On October 27, 2005, the Geibeltbad was awarded the IOC / IAKS Award in bronze, an international architecture award for sports facilities from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the International Association for Sports and Leisure Facilities (IAKS).

In 2017, the bath was the location for the “Johannstädter Freibad” in the Tatort: ​​Déjà-vu .

The outdoor pool has an 8 × 50 m swimming pool (2,000 m³), ​​a non-swimmer pool (250 m³) and a 10 m tower with 1 m and 3 m diving boards as well as a 5 m stage including a 5 m platform Associated basin with 850 m³ capacity. The Geibeltbad has cabin areas built in the style of the 1930s, which extend between the old and new entrance areas. The outdoor area has a capacity of around 5000 visitors. During hot spells in summer, up to 2500 visitors can be in the pool.

The special thing about the 100 m giant slide is that it is made entirely of stainless steel and you can see from the inside out. There are six different saunas in the Geibeltbad Pirna : two classic saunas, all of which offer 80 ° C to 100 ° C, a low-temperature / organic sauna with 50 to 60 ° C, a warm room with 30 to 45 ° C and a Finnish Kelo -Sauna with 500 year old pine wood . There are two steam baths with 100% humidity and 40 to 45 ° C as well as a brine inhalation bath with moist vapors and a temperature of 45 ° C. In the tepidarium there are warm rooms with water channels and cold water basins and built-in relaxation rooms. Outside there is a sauna garden in the open auditorium.

There is a restaurant at the main entrance and a snack terrace in the outdoor pool, both of which have a good view. There is a vitamin drink bar in the tepidarium .
