Gela ( Bulgarian Гела) is a village in the municipality of Smoljan , which belongs to Smoljan Oblast in the central Rhodope Mountains in the south of Bulgaria . It is located at an altitude of 1500 m at the foot of the Rhodope Mountains Great Perelik , Orpheus and Turlata . The village has 98 inhabitants.
A bagpipe (Kaba-Gaida) competition has been held here every year since 2002. Since 2006, the place has given its name to Gela Point , a headland on Livingston Island in Antarctica.
