The yellow timeless ( Colchicum luteum ) is a species of the genus of the timeless ( Colchicum ) in the family of the timeless plants (Colchicaceae).

The yellow timeless is a perennial bulbous plant that reaches heights of 3 to 12 centimeters. The tuber measures 1.5 to 6.5 × 1 to 3 centimeters and is 7 to 28 centimeters deep in the ground. The 3 to 4 (rarely 2 to 6) leaves measure 1 to 4.5 (rarely up to 9) × 0.7 to 3 (rarely from 0.2) centimeters and are shorter than the flowers , later they reach 10 to 25 (rarely up to 30) × 0.6 to 3 centimeters. The underside of the leaves is clearly ribbed. The 1 to 2 (rarely up to 4) flowers are very fragrant, yellow, narrowly funnel-shaped and spread out in the sun. The perigone measure 13 to 45 × 1.5 to 11 millimeters. Their nerves are often colored purple-brown. The scar is punctiform and not protruding.
The flowering period extends from February to March.
Occurrence
The yellow timeless occurs in eastern Afghanistan, in Pakistan, in western India in the western Himalayas, in the western Pamir-Alai and in western Tienschan. It grows in montane to alpine lawns, on damp slopes, on patches of snow and in open woods at altitudes of 800 to 3900 (rarely from 600) meters.

The yellow timeless is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. It has been in culture since 1874 at the latest.
