Gellert Prize

The Gellert Prize is an art prize for works of fine art, literature and music, donated by the district of North Saxony and the Sparkasse Leipzig . The award commemorates the fable poet and enlightener Christian Fürchtegott Gellert and has contributed to the promotion of the arts in Central Germany since 1999. It is endowed with 5,000 euros. It is awarded to artists who have their place of residence or their place of artistic activity in Central Germany for current and outstanding artistic achievements. A jury of experts decides on the award of the Gellert Prize on behalf of the donors.
