The former evangelical community center on Buschgraben was at Ludwigsfelder Strasse 30 in the Berlin district of Zehlendorf in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district .

history

The community center was built in 1965 by Ewald Bubner as a branch of the Church of the Homeland . Due to the lively housing construction was July 1, 1972, the formation of an independent parish . It has been united with the parish of the Schönow Church since 2000 . Protestant church services are only held there . Then the Berlin Orthodox Church Community of St. Georgios of the Patriarchate of Antioch used the community center. The building complex was demolished in spring 2019. A new school building is now planned at Ludwigsfelder Strasse 30. The adjacent natural garden is to be preserved.

Building description

The architect avoided any signs of sacredness . Because of the spatial neutrality, the community hall, which is not defined by an axis or a center , could not only be used for church services, but also for purely profane events such as gymnastics and exhibitions. This was made possible by the flexible arrangement of the principles and the seating. The high parish hall was followed by single-storey extensions in the west and north , which were expanded in 1976. They contained a club room, the community office, youth rooms and two apartments.

The structure of the building complex , which was staggered in height, consisted of prefabricated, storey-high wall elements. They were covered with prefabricated flat roofs . The walls either had a wooden facade or a glass facade . A lot of wood was also used inside. Two covered open corridors lead to the glass facade of the south wall of the community hall, which is located back from the street. They were fitted with fixed external blinds to shield them from direct sunlight . Additional daylight fell into the community hall through the low cliffs on the north wall.
