Communion of St. Joseph

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Community of St. Joseph was established in 1995 as a public association under diocesan law by the then diocesan bishop Kurt Krenn and is a priestly community in the diocese of St. Pölten .

overview

The community, based in a specially purchased former inn in Kleinhain , north of St. Pölten, was founded by Bishop Kurt Krenn by decree of March 19, 1995. Bishop Klaus Küng , Krenn's successor as Bishop of St. Pölten, has confirmed the legal status of the community as a public clerical association (can. 302). Since the community is not an order, but in fact only a priestly community of secular clergy based on the model of the basic structure of the oratorio, the members as such do not use an (religious) abbreviation. The moderator (superior) from 1995 to October 2012 was Werner Schmid (originally a member of the Missionaries of the Precious Blood , since 2003 in the diocese of St. Pöltenincardinated); Josef Seeanner was the moderator from October 2012 to October 2016; Josef Spindelböck followed him . The responsible episcopal vicar was Protonotary Prelate Alois Hörmer until 2004 . The community currently has 13 members, including Episcopal Vicar Helmut Prader (as of October 19, 2016), eleven of whom are priests and two brothers. The community is assigned to the conservative spectrum of the Catholic Church.

The community is intensively involved in the Internet apostolate and operates an extensive news site. Numerous ecclesiastical documents are also accessible via the St. Joseph Community website. In addition, the community maintains its own publishing house, St. Josef.

aims

It is the concern and goal of the community to allow the charism of St. Joseph to become fruitful anew for the Church of our time in the various areas of the apostolate and in particular to serve the promotion and formation of spiritual professions.

The community owes an essential impulse to the apostolic letter of Pope John Paul II. “Redemptoris Custos” on the figure and mission of St. Joseph in the life of Christ and the Church of August 15, 1989. Essential elements of the spiritual life are the daily Holy Mass , the frequent one Confession , the Liturgy of the Hours ( Breviary ), Eucharistic adoration , spiritual reading and contemplation and the daily rosary . Therese von Lisieux , Katharina von Siena , Philipp Neri and Jakob Kern are also venerated as patrons .
