Research priorities

When recognizing a theological target, Spindelböck takes an ethical approach based on natural law and therefore sees the possibility of a meaningful and further ethical discourse on this basis, also between believers and non-believers. In political ethics he recognizes the fundamental justification of a right of resistance in dealing with unjust state violence. He values the basic decision ( fundamental option ) as decisive for the formation of the moral personality , which, however, must always be seen in unity with the specific moral behavior.

In the field of medical ethics, at the invitation of Bishop Klaus Küng , Spindelböck worked as editorial secretary in the preparation of the guidelines for Catholic institutions in the service of health care "Life in Abundance" for the Austrian Bishops' Conference .
