Josef Kreiml

Josef Kreiml (born December 4, 1958 in Wolkering ) is a German Roman Catholic priest and theologian .

Life

Josef Kreiml studied Catholic theology from 1977 to 1982 at the University of Regensburg and at the Gregorian University in Rome . He then studied philosophy at the Jesuit University of Philosophy in Munich from 1983 to 1985 . In 1989 he was at the University of Regensburg Dr. theol. PhD . After his ordination in 1990 in Regensburg, he was chaplain in the parish of St. Josef in Dingolfing (1990–1994) and pastor (1994–1997). In 2001 he qualified as a professor at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich under Gerhard Ludwig Müller , who later became Bishop of Regensburg, in the subject of dogmatics .

Josef Kreiml has been a lecturer in ecumenical theology since 2003 and professor for fundamental theology at the Philosophical-Theological University of St. Pölten since 2004 ; from 2006 to 2019 he was rector there .

Josef Kreiml was a diocesan judge at the diocesan court of St. Pölten . He is also active as a pastor in the parish Obritzberg , as a consultant in the priestly training of the diocese of Regensburg and as a liaison pastor of the KÖAV Floriana St. Pölten in the ÖCV .

Josef Kreiml is involved in numerous social projects in the Holy Land . In 2010 he was appointed Knight of the Order of Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master John Patrick Cardinal Foley and invested in the order on October 2, 2010 in the Herzogenburg Abbey by the Archbishop of Salzburg, Alois Kothgasser , Grand Prior of the Austrian Lieutenancy .

On December 1, 2019, Kreiml was appointed by Bishop Rudolf Voderholzer as the successor to the late Regensburg Cathedral Provost Anton Wilhelm as Cathedral Capitular in the Diocese of Regensburg. He will continue his teaching activities in St. Pölten, but will be giving up management of the university at the end of 2019.

His main research interests are modern philosophy (including German idealism, Heidegger ) and the theology of the 19th and 20th centuries (including John Henry Newman , Romano Guardini , Karl Rahner , Joseph Ratzinger ).
