Gemla (pronounced Jem-la ) is a village ( Tatort ) in the Swedish province of Kronobergs län and the historic province of Småland . The place in the municipality of Växjö is located between Alvesta and Växjö on the national roads 707 and 712.

In the southern part of the village is the Öja Church, built in the 1850s.

The toy manufacturer "Micki" operates a factory on site.

Personalities

  • Gemla was best known through the writer and Nobel Prize laureate Pär Lagerkvist , who spent some time there to write his works.
