Gene Scott

Eugene Lytton "Gene" Scott (born December 28, 1937 in New York City , † March 20, 2006 in Rochester , Minnesota ) was an American tennis player .

Career

Scott was a well-known tennis player in the 1960s. In 1963 he reached fourth place in the ranking of amateurs. He was a member of the US team in the Davis Cup , where he played with Arthur Ashe . In 1974 he founded Tennis Week magazine .

Gene Scott was one of the best players in the various age groups after his career as a competitive athlete. In 2004 he won the US Tennis Association (USTA) lawn championship in the M65 age group and the International Tennis Federation (ITF) individual world championship in the same age group. In 2008 he was posthumously inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
