Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps is an album by Gene Vincent from 1957 .

It was his second studio album, after “Blue Jean Bop!”, And the second with his backing band, the Blue Caps. The Blue Caps were Cliff Gallup on lead guitar , Willie Williams and Paul Peek on rhythm guitar , Jack Neal on bass , Dickie Harrell on drums and The Jordanaires as backing vocalist .

The album was produced by Ken Nelson .

The original album was released on Capitol Records in March 1957. In 2002 Capitol released the album on CD with five additional bonus tracks. However, the record could not repeat the success of its predecessor ( Blue Jean Bop! Reached number 16 on the pop charts).

Trivia

Years later, the track “Cat Man” was to be covered by the band The Birthday Party on their debut EP .

Jeff Beck , who also wrote the liner notes for the re-release, announced in a Mojo interview that "Gene Vincent and The Blue Caps" was the album that had influenced him the most.
