General Electric F101
The F-101 engine from General Electric is a military turbofan engine with afterburner . It was the first General Electric engine to be equipped with an afterburner with a turbofan design.
It is used in the Rockwell B-1 , the long-range heavy bomber having four of these engines.
The engine was introduced in 1970 but discontinued with the end of the original B-1 program in 1977. The program was resumed in 1983 with the modified B-1B. Of the F101-GE-102 engine, 469 units were produced between 1983 and December 1987.
A derivative of this engine is the General Electric F110 . It also served as the basis for the CFM56 .
