The Generationals are an American indie rock duo from New Orleans , Louisiana . It was founded in 2008 by the two band members Ted Joyner and Grant Widmer.

history

Joyner and Widmer were as co-founder of from Baton Rouge coming indie pop band The Eames Era already familiar with the music, as these dissolved and the two musicians decided to create a new band Generationals to start. With this name the band was named after the presidential election in the United States in 2008 , when the duo noticed that the generation change was often an issue in discussions about the successor to George W. Bush .

In July 2009, Generationals released their first album called Con Law . The EP Trust followed in November 2010, before their second album Actor-Caster was released on March 29, 2011 .

The song “When they fight they fight” from the first album was used in an advertisement by Bloomingdale’s in 2009 and by Amazon Kindle in 2012, and the song “Faces in the Dark” was also used in a third season episode of Chuck . Furthermore, the song "Exterior Street Day" was used in a television advertisement for Reese’s in late 2010 .

Probably the best-known piece of the band is "Either Way", which was heard in the 2010 film Crazy About You (original title: Going the Distance ). In January 2011, the song "Trust" was also selected as Pick of the Week at Starbucks . The song “When they fight they fight” was also included in the 2011 film Everything is allowed - A week without rules .

The band's third album, Heza , was released on April 5, 2013.
