Genetic Wisdom is a Dutch progressive and thrash metal band from Overijssel , which was founded in 1990, split up around 1994 and came back together in 2009.

history

The band was formed in November 1990. The band got their name from the song PTM1 by the American band Warrior , the text of which ends with the words "Genetic Wisdom". In spring 1991 the band recorded their first demo, which included two songs, which was released in March of that year under the name Trivial Destiny . Through the demo, the group reached a contract with Mascot Records . This was followed by the debut album The Fear Dimension in 1993. The second album Humanity on Parole with the new singer Mike Lucarelli was released the following year . Mike Lucarelli had already played with drummer Ronny Scholten on Sacrosanct's debut album Truth Is - What Is .

In the following period the band broke up. In 2006 members of Genetic Wisdom formed a new band called Why She Kills. In 2009 the band got together again to play at the Eindhoven Metal Meeting that December . The band consisted of the singer Michel Lucarelli, the guitarists Peter Slootbeek and Ralph Roelvink, the bassist Gerrit Knol and the drummer Ronny Scholten.

style

According to guitarist Ralph Roelvink, the musical influence of the members ranges from hard rock to death metal . According to Stefan Glas from Metal Hammer , the lyrics of singer Bos would deal with topics such as racism, child abuse or television abuse. According to Oliver Recker from Metal Hammer , "melodic (techno) Thrash with vocals in a higher pitch" can be heard on The Fear Dimension . Frank Albrecht and Götz Kühnemund said the musical style in rock hard was towards realm , vio-lence and above all despair . Albrecht called it “tricky progressive thrash”, performed with an “extremely high” voice, which was however “much too thin” “and the vocal lines immature”, whereas Kühnemund stated the vocals as “inconspicuous” and “average”. According to Recker, the new singer Mike Lucarelli is the biggest difference to the previous album on Humanity on Parole , which means that the band is moving "from the Techno Thrash times (Despair brand) to more modern sounds". Influences from bands like Biohazard can be heard on the album . Martin Popoff found in his book The Collector's Guide of Heavy Metal Volume 3: The Nineties that the album could be assigned to Metalcore , if the genre had already existed back then, as one could hear strong influences from Hardcore Punk . The snare is also said to be the highest tuned he has ever heard.
