Geney ( Dzongkha : དགེ་ བསྙེན་ ) is one of eight Gewogs (blocks) of the Dzongkhag Thimphu in western Bhutan . Geney Gewog is in turn divided into five Chiwogs (constituencies). According to the 2005 census, 918 people live in this area, covering an area of 144 km². The Gewogs villages are widely scattered and mostly far from the feeder road to the main road between Thimphu and Phuentsholing .

The Gewog is located in the south of the Thimphu district and extends over altitudes between 2013 and 4533  m . It is located in the temperate climate zone. Summers are warm with heavy rainfall from June to August, while winters are cold. The population of Geney Gewog earned their livelihood mainly from agriculture and animal husbandry. Rice, wheat, barley and chilli are grown. Another source of income is the sale of wild Matsutake mushrooms.

There is a basic health care unit ( BHU ) and an advice center ( Outreach Clinic ) for medical care, as well as a primary school.
