Geng Lijuan

Geng Lijuan (born January 15, 1963 in Hebei ) is a Chinese and Canadian table tennis player . She is a four-time world champion. She has played for Canada since 1989.

Career in China

At the 1983 World Cup she was runner-up in doubles with Huang Junqun, and she won gold with the team. In 1985 she reached the final in singles, doubles (with Dai Lili ) and with the team she won the title. In 1987 she won the last title, namely in mixed with Hui Jun.

Career in Canada

Some time before her marriage, she moved to Canada in 1988 (or 1989) and was allowed to play in that country. For Canada she took part in the 1991 World Championships (quarter-finals in singles), 1993 , 1995 (quarter-finals in singles), 1997 , 1999 (quarter-finals in doubles), 2000 and 2001 .

In 1996 and 2000 she took part in the Olympic Games.

She won the national championship and the North American championship several times.

In 1990 she joined the German Bundesliga club Spvg Steinhagen . After the withdrawal of this club, she moved to Ottawa in 1994 to return to Germany in 1997 to Team Galaxis Lübeck .

Private

In 1983 she met the Romanian table tennis player Horatio Pintea in Canada. This competed in international competitions for Canada since 1983. In 1988 Geng Lijuan moved to Canada, and in June 1989 she married Pintea.

Her sister Geng Lihong came to TTK GW Kiel from China in 1991 .
