Gennady Anatolyevich Moisseyev

Gennadi Anatoljewitsch Moissejew ( Russian Геннадий Анатольевич Моисеев , scientific transliteration Gennadij Anatol'evič Moiseev , also Guennady Moisseev ; born February 3, 1948 in the Leningrad Oblast , Soviet Union) ; † July 23, 2017 was a Soviet motocross driver .

Moiseyev spent his childhood in Vvedenskoye, a village near Vyritsa in Leningrad Oblast. He first sat on a motorcycle at the age of 13. In the Motocross Department of Zhdanov - Pioneer Palace in the 57 km distant Leningrad young Moiseyev trained his skills. In nearby Pushkin he began training as an electrical mechanic.

In 1966 he won the bronze medal of the national championship of the USSR in motocross with 175 cc. After this success he was included in the Soviet motocross selection for international competitions. In 1967 he first took part in a world championship competition in Belgorod in southwestern Russia . However, Moiseyev only reached the zenith of his career in the 1970s . In 1974 he became motocross world champion with 250 cm³ on a machine from the Austrian manufacturer KTM . In 1977 and 1978 he was able to repeat this success. For political reasons, he was then asked to switch to a machine made by ČZ from socialist Czechoslovakia . From then on he could no longer build on his previous successes.

After finishing his active career he worked as a trainer and / or sports teacher. In the 2000s he was temporarily president of the Russian Motorcycle Sports Association.

Moiseyev was married.
