Rupert von Miller

Rupert von Miller (born February 19, 1879 in Munich , † December 30, 1951 in Bad Wiessee ) was a German architect , sculptor and professor of the fine arts.

Rupert von Miller was a son of the ore caster, goldsmith and sculptor Fritz von Miller and a grandson of the ore caster Ferdinand von Miller . From 1905 he studied in Munich at the sculpture school with Wilhelm von Rümann and later in Berlin . The church of St. Maria Himmelfahrt on the Wasserpointhügel in Bad Wiessee comes from him . He also created figures for the Reichenbach Bridge and a bronze picture of his father that is in the St. Benno Church in Munich.

In 1930 the Miller ore foundry was commissioned to manufacture a monument to the national hero Simón Bolívar for the government of the Republic of Colombia. Rupert von Miller created the design for the 3.50 meter tall figure that was erected in Bogotá .

The Rupert-von-Miller-Platz in Bad Wiessee was named after Rupert von Miller. The architect and sculptor is buried in the mountain cemetery in Bad Wiessee.
