Gennersbrunn is a hamlet in the district of Schaffhausen in the canton of Schaffhausen , Switzerland .

The hamlet is nestled at an altitude of 453  m between fields and forests on the connecting road from Schaffhausen-Herblingen to Dörflingen .

history

The hamlet, first mentioned in 1122 as Gennaerisbrunnin, originally consisted of two farms and never became an independent village. Until 1307 it belonged to the Benedictine monastery of All Saints in Schaffhausen. Arable and viticulture was practiced. After that Gennersbrunn belonged to the Benedictine monastery of St. Agnesen in Schaffhausen. In 1494 the monastery bought some bailiwick rights, and in 1552 the city of Schaffhausen bought the remaining rights. In 1723 the city of Schaffhausen acquired high jurisdiction over the villages of the Reiat from the Landgraviate of Nellenburg . Gennersbrunn was run as a Lehenhof and belonged to the Obervogtei Buch . In 1850 Gennersbrunn moved to the municipality of Thayngen and in 1900 to Herblingen . Since Herblingen was incorporated into the city of Schaffhausen in 1964, the hamlet of Gennersbrunn has been part of the city of Schaffhausen again.

Gennersbrunn first belonged to Büsingen am Hochrhein , from 1855 to Dörflingen and from 1900 to Herblingen .

In 2009 six families lived in Gennersbrunn.

Economy / tourism

The hamlet is heavily influenced by agriculture. There has been a country inn in Gennersbrunn since 1606. The country inn with its garden restaurant is a popular destination. Hiking trails from Schaffhausen, Thayngen and Dörflingen lead through Gennersbrunn. The Roderichstein lies northeast of the hamlet .
