Ernst Böhme (pastor)

Ernst Böhme (born March 5, 1862 in Jena ; † March 1, 1941 ibid) was a German theologian , hymn poet and pastor for peace . From 1899 he worked as a pastor in Kunitz near Jena. In 1933 he retired. From his pen comes u. a. the hymn Fly there, you time, eternity was written in my heart . He was one of the few peace pastors in Thuringia . In 1894 Ernst Böhme published his first contribution on the subject of "Christians and the Peace Movement", under the title "The War and the Christian Church". This essay is the first theologically and church-historically justified plea for support of the peace movement by Christians, pastors and churches.

As a member of the German Peace Society and chairman of the Jena local chapter, he campaigned for the First German Peace Congress, the annual meeting of the Peace Society, on 9/10 May 1908 in Jena.
