Life

Genoveva, who had to have her left leg amputated at the age of 13 and used crutches for the rest of her life, founded the "Sisterhood of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and of the Holy Angels", also known as "Angelicans", in 1911. The religious community began to wear a habit in 1912 and received diocesan approbation from the Archbishop of Saragossa in 1925 . In 1953 it was recognized papally and received the Decretum laudis ; the official name is Hermanas del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús y de los Santos Ángeles . The sisters run homes to care for women in need. The work expanded very much, which, despite her disability, obliged Genoveva to travel long distances. From 1931 she devoted herself to the upbringing and education of the next generation. Due to the Spanish Civil War , the Angelicans lost a number of branches.

Genoveva by Pope John Paul II. 1995 blessed - and in Madrid on May 4, 2003 canonized .

Her feast day in the liturgy is January 5th .
